Who are you? Tell us a little about yourself and your story
I’m Scott, and I’m originally from Liverpool in the UK. I had been living in Canada for the last 8 years before moving to the Sunny Coast in December. I love footy (soccer), CrossFit, going for coffee, brunch, and going to the movies! I began my coaching journey this year coaching kiddies’ soccer, and now I share my love for CrossFit at CFC.
How and why did you choose to enter the world of Fitness/CrossFit?
Having played soccer all my life in the UK, I needed something to fill that void after moving to Canada. I needed something to replace that competitiveness, the constant need to improve, along with being part of a team.
I found that and more when I walked through the doors at CrossFit Banff – I was hooked right away. The workouts were fun, constantly varied, with constantly new skills to work on and new things to achieve.
Above all though, for me, CrossFit is community. Every CrossFit gym I have been to, I have met the most amazing people. There is something special about all coming together and giving it your all for that hour.
Favourite WOD?
Annie or Murph. My favourite movements are barbell back squats or power cleans.
Who or what inspires you and what has been the main influence to your journey?
What inspires me the most is our members who show up and give it their all, trying their best to master new skills or hit new PBs. We have people in our gym who are 70 years old and have done more classes than every other member this month. I find that so inspiring!
The main influences on my journey would be longevity and wellness. CrossFit keeps me strong, healthy, and keeps my body moving. It’s my goal to be fit and able for as long as possible. Alongside that, CrossFit keeps me balanced mentally and allows me to blow off steam.
Favourite food?
My favourite food is a toss-up between a medium-rare steak or a pizza!
Favourite drink?
Oooft, it would have to be a matcha latte or a cup of tea. I love coffee, but it doesn’t love me back
Favourite holiday destination?
My favourite places I’ve been to are either Vietnam, Greece, or Ibiza (all for very different reasons). My absolute bucket-list destination would be Africa to go on a safari.
Favourite motivational quote?
“Fck that tired body, fck that unmotivated mind, and get out there and do it anyway. You better fight yourself, because you’re not only winning when things are going your way. You gotta figure out how to win when things aren’t going your way.” — Tom Brady
What’s one OCD trait you have?
I don’t have any OCD traits, but I have been diagnosed with ADD, so that makes me very forgetful
